Whew! What a Monday! We welcomed a new student today. The class was very excited to meet Zeke and show him around. It is easy to forget how much the class has learned until we have someone new join us. I am so proud of the class for being awesome helpers today!
We are reading about how baby animals are different from their parents this week. We will also squeeze in a text or two about insects. The first graders are really good at finding the main idea of a text and details or examples that support it. This skill helps the class write informational texts with the same elements during writing.
In math the first graders are learning all about 2 dimensional shapes. Today they worked on using several to make new shapes. We will also learn about breaking shapes apart this week.
As a reminder, Spring pictures will be tomorrow. Every child will have their picture taken unless they bring the form sent home last week indicating that parents do not want pictures. Looking ahead to May, the class will be presenting some of their learning on the second to last Thursday of the year. I would love for everyone to have a chance to come in to see what their child has to share. Please help me find times that work best for everyone by filling out this BRIEF survey. Thanks in advance for your input!

As always we have a few volunteer spots open for the last weeks of school. It would greatly appreciate any help you can offer!
