Happy Halloween Eve! This morning we had the chance to learn about how characters are expressed in music. Mrs. Stewart and the quintet she performs with came to demonstrate musical themes from the composer Dohnanyi. It was great to hear the different moods characters can bring to a musical piece. I caught a few moments from the performance and shared them on Class Dojo. I'm excited to see everyone dressed up in costumes tomorrow. The parade will start at 9:30. Parents are welcome to bring younger siblings to watch as well. The class finally filled up the noodle jar, so we will be adding to the crazy of tomorrow with stuffed animals. Your child is welcome to bring a stuffed friend so long as it can fit in their backpack. (Hopefully by Thursday the candy and excitement will be out of everyone's system!)
Mrs. Reed sends weekly updates out to the Upland community to keep families informed of what is going on at school. Her messages will have her name, Jennifer KeilReed, and will be sent to [email protected]. Lately those messages have been caught in the junk folder in my email account. Your inbox may also be tossing those messages that way as well, so it may be helpful to double check that Mrs. Reed's updates are sent to the right place.
Thank you for a successful first term in first grade. Report cards will be sent home on Thursday. I will attach a letter explaining the grade scale shift Granite district rolled out this year, as well as a short explanation of my grading scale. If either are clear as mud or you have additional questions, please feel free to ask!
Have a wonderful week!
