Thank you, thank you, thank you for all your support during the first week of school. It was great to meet most of you on the first day. I feel so grateful that you let me get to know your precious kiddos this year. Starting off with an event like the eclipse really got the ball rolling, and we have been running ever since! The first graders are working hard at learning the rules and about a million procedures. Here is a quick look at our weekly schedule:
Monday: library (starting soon!)
Tuesday: PE (please remind your child to wear shoes they can run around in safely.)
Wednesday: Art with Ms. Petty
Thursday: Music with the grade level
Friday: dismiss at 1:40
We will be dismissing from the front doors on Tuesdays and Wednesdays because of PE and Art. Most first graders have been able to find whoever they will be going home with no problem. However, If your child is walking or driving with someone for the first time, it helps a ton to have a pre-determined meeting spot. Another thing that would help me and your first grader is a name written in personal items like backpacks, lunchboxes, and jackets. We have a majority of students bringing lunch from home, so lunchboxes especially have been confused or misplaced lately. I GREATLY appreciate your help with meeting spots and names on things!
If you would like to donate some of your time, I have several volunteer opportunities still open. Feel free to browse through what I have listed under the volunteer tab on the left. The sign-ups will be updated as events or needs come up as well. I am still getting to know the class, but once I do I will be posting additional sign-ups for working with small groups of first graders.
Thank you again for all your donations and support! I am one lucky teacher and look forward to a great year.
Have a wonderful week,
Mrs. Glenn
