Welcome back to school! I hope everyone had a restful and fun break. I'm excited about the start to a new year, with a great group of first graders to keep me company. This week and next we are going to be busy with wrapping up math chapters, checking in with reading progress, and showing off what we've learned on this term's benchmarks. The first graders have been working so hard this quarter. We are all excited to see it pay off this month. Benchmark time means that the end of the quarter is getting close. Next Thursday is an early dismissal day. There will be no school on Friday.
This time of year is my favorite. The first graders have settled into our routine and keep amazing me with not only how much they've learned but how eager they are to keep going. The entire grade level will go to The Leonardo on January 19 from 9:30 to 12:30. I am still looking for 3 parent volunteers to join us that morning. Please let me know if you would like to join in the fun!
Today is the 82nd day of school. That means the 100th day is fast approaching. We like to celebrate the 100th day with a parade, games, and other fun activities. The first graders are invited to dress up like they think they would look like at 100 years old. We will start the day with a parade through the school and wrap the day up with a class party. There are 4 spots available for volunteers, if anyone is interested in joining in one of the most fun days of the year. The button below will take you directly to the website. January 30th is the big day, so make sure to mark your calendars!
Thank you, thank you, thank you for the thoughtful gifts and treats. I felt very loved! I am the luckiest teacher to have such great support from all first grade families.
Have a wonderful week!
