We have a busy week this week. Because it is the end of the term, we are wrapping up the second quarter benchmarks for math and language arts. This can be a lot of hard work, so we will be doing some fun things too! We will be going to visit The Leonardo Wednesday morning. If you are available to join us, we have one more spot available. We will be meeting at The Leonardo at 10:00. Please let me know as soon as possible if you are available to join in the fun. Tomorrow we will hunt for sight words with flashlights. Thursday is a short day because there will be no school on Friday.
Last week we started the chapter on place value in math. The first graders picked up on the idea of tens and ones quickly, so today we used tens and ones blocks to make teen numbers. We will work our way up to 120 this week and next.
This week we will read all about how animals work together. I'm sure the first graders will love to read about giraffes, fish, and zebra! We will also practice recording information from the text. The class has done a great job of writing about the informationwe collect when we read informational texts. Their writing has grown tremendously this year! I am very proud of their hard work.
i am in need of snack donations. Afternoon snack helps keep the class going through the end of a very long day. We do have a few peanut allergies in the class, but those students are ok to be around food that was produced in a factory wth nuts. I greatly appreciate your generosity! Thank you for al your support!
Have a wonderful week!
