This week is the last week of the term. Because we are so busy wrapping units in math and science up, there is no homework this week. The end of the term also means that we dismiss early on Thursday and have no school on Friday or Monday in celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
We have been really busy working on exploring the relationship between numbers in math. Today we made models of subtraction sentences and completed related addition sentences. We will continue working on related facts as well as practice choosing addition or subtraction to words used in story problems.
The sun has been keeping us busy in reading and science this month. We have been observing it in the sky when the weather allows. I know I have had a great time reading and writing about solar flares, prominences, and the incredible 10,000 degree surface of the sun. This week we will read about the moon and start to track its journey through the sky. Since the moon changes at a slower pace, we will start our observations this week, but continue through the next unit on weather.
I would like to thank all the wonderfully patient volunteers that joined us on Friday. The trip to the Leonardo would not have been such a success without Mrs. Apple, Mrs. Wilkinson, Mrs. Hammer, and Mrs. Clark! Thank you, thank you for all your help!
Have a wonderful week!
