First I want to say a huge, heartfelt THANK YOU to the volunteers that joined us at the Leonardo. The first graders had a blast wandering through the exhibits with Mr. Daniels, Mrs. Leeflang, Mrs. Stewart, and Mrs. Clawson! I enjoyed capturing a few moments from the field trip to share on Class Dojo. If you haven't had a chance yet, take a look at all the fun your child had!
We have a few exciting things to look forward to this week. First, we are participating in The Great Kindness Challenge. Every day the first graders will choose an act of kindness from a list, then we will find ways to put it into action during the day. Last week a yellow form was sent home. The Upland community is encouraged to participate in the first school-wide musical. Mrs. Larson is kind enough to head up this project. Any first graders that are interested in participating need to return the yellow form by this Friday. There is too much information about the production to include here, so please make sure to read through the packet or send Mrs. Larson your questions.
We finally had some winter weather blow in over the weekend. The class was very excited about the snow, which kept them entertained but also a bit wet today. Your child is welcome to bring extra socks and shoes to change into after recesses. A few of them had so much fun outside that their feet were red from the colder temps for most of the afternoon without a change of socks to warm them back up.
Lastly, Valentine's day is just 4 short weeks away. We will be exchanging valentines on the 14th, so each first grader will need to provide some sort of container to collect their goodies in. I'm excited to see what creative decorations make it on each container!
Have a wonderful week!
