We started a new unit about symbols and monuments today. The first graders made books with the symbols Upland Terrace uses. We will continue the discussion about symbols with Utah and the United States, as well as add in some learning about the many monuments found in both.
Today we learned how to add two-digit numbers together. Since this was the first lesson on the topic, we only added a two-digit numbers that did not make a new ten. This can be a tricky skill so we will be practicing different addition strategies for the rest of the week. I will send home a reference sheet next week with examples of each strategy to help with homework.
Mrs. Booth is working hard on putting together a yearbook but she needs your help. If you have any pictures from class parties or field trips, please send them her way so that she can include memories from the whole year. Her email is [email protected]. We also have the opportunity to watch a performance of The Wizard of Oz at Wasatch Jr. on March 14. Because we are so close, we will be walking from the school. I am looking for 2 parent volunteers to join us from 9:00 until about lunch time. Thanks in advance for all your help!
Have a wonderful week!
