This week we are busy, busy, busy with studying weather and measurement. Today we read and talked about snow and how it helps living things. We will add rain, wind, fog, and clouds to the discussion throughout the week. The first graders had a blast ordering things in the room according to length. We practiced comparing items then used words like "shorter" or "longer" to describe their order. Tomorrow we will use clues about length to order string, lines, and even a sweet treat. I love teaching measurement because of how many fun, hands-on activities we get to do! Stay tuned for pictures on Class Dojo!
Next week is the last week of the term. We will dismiss early on Wednesday. As encouraged by the district, I still plan to work on academic content next week, so please let me know if your family plans to leave for Spring Break before Thursday.
Finally, thank you for all your support and appreciation this year. I know I am one of the luckiest first grade teachers out there!
Have a wonderful week!
