We are getting excited for summer in first grade with an eventful last 2 weeks of school. Each day will have a different theme, starting next Monday, and may require some "assembly" as we count down the last 10 days of school. I can NOT believe we've made it all the way to the last 3 weeks!
This week we are working on wrapping up the last chapter in math and the last unit in the reading program. The first graders are now experts at identifying 3-D shapes and making new shapes with them. The class is also working on their last informational writing pieces. I am SO impressed with how far we've come in the past 4 weeks with this type of writing! A lot of our hard work from this term will be on display in the classroom from 3:00 until 3:30 on Thursday, May 17. We hope to see you then!
The school carnival is coming up this Friday. The first grade is collecting Disney-themed items for the grade level basket. The basket will be a part of the silent auction during the carnival. We appreciate any items you can donate to help the school raise funds for the end of the year and beyond. Your generosity helps support many school events and all classrooms.
Last, but not least, we will be going to Red Butte Garden in two weeks. The first graders will eat lunch a smidge early, then be at the gardens for the afternoon. The Red Butte staff suggests visitor wear good shoes since each group will be walking around for most of their visit.
Have a wonderful week!
