Happy belated Labor day to everyone! I hope you all enjoyed the long weekend. I noticed a few journals came back with first graders today so I will be reading and responding to those this week. Thank you for making me a part of your holiday weekend!
Mark your calendars for this Friday. This year's Fall Social is superhero-themed and sounds like great fun! Families can practice their superhero skills, get masks painted, and enjoy dinner from Hot Dog on a Stick. Activities will run from 5-7 PM. We hope to see you there!
The new librarian, Mrs. LeBaron, came to visit us today. She was very excited to start the year with the first graders. She also gave each child a yellow note explaining the expectations for the library. The bottom portion of the note is a "Borrower's Permit" to be returned by this Friday, September 8. Once your child returns their permit they will be able to not only check out books for the year, but choose a book to keep and take home. The library has been reorganized so many books are now available to take. I will keep an eye out for these yellow permits starting tomorrow.
We have been getting to know each other and I am excited to get to know students as individuals as I start to work with small groups. Once I am familiar with what the class or groups of students need I will be able to update the volunteer opportunities. Currently, I am looking for a parent volunteer to watch my class during this month's PTA meeting. Meetings typically run from 9:30-10:30. The students will be working on literacy centers during this time, so I am just looking for someone that would like to sit in on the fun for that hour. If you are interested or available, please let me know!
Have a wonderful week!
