We have another busy week here at Upland! Picture day is tomorrow. I saw a few order forms come in this morning. I will be looking for the remaining envelopes tomorrow. Our class is scheduled to take pictures at 9:55. Your child is welcome to bring a change of clothes for the rest of the day. We also have PE in the afternoon, so students should have shoes that they can safely run around in. This Wednesday is Walk to School day. Students are encouraged to walk or ride their bike or scooter to school. Bus riders can walk around the school to participate. For more information about the day, please see the green flyer sent home today or walkbiketoschool.org.
This week we will be reading and discussing what makes pets special. Today we read Cool Dog, School Dog. It is about a dog that misses her owner so much after he starts school that she breaks into the building. Later this week we will also read about how to care for pets, and two short stories about a pet dinosaur and a pet pig. Several families wanted books to read at home. I sent a bag home for each child on Thursday. Once your child reads their book once, they can bring it back for a new one. If you opted not to have books sent home, that's okay. I appreciate any and all time spent reading at home!
Thank you again to everyone for attending conferences last week! It was great to spend a few minutes chatting about your child. I loved getting to know each family a bit better too. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your dedication to first grade!
Have a wonderful week!
